Welcome to City Language Immersion Charter (CLIC), a school founded by West Adams parents to offer students from all over the city the opportunity to learn in a caring, enriching, and diverse school community. As a bilingual educator for over twenty five years in the City of Los Angeles, I have dreamt of working with a team of committed parents, educators and community members to create a learning environment that fosters a love of learning, languages, and diversity. The founding of CLIC is the fulfillment of that dream.
Our dual language school is guided by the constructivist principle that working collaboratively to solve real problems, learning to communicate in more than one language, and developing our social, cultural and emotional selves is the key to student academic achievement and long-term success. We are driven by the belief that all students can thrive and become contributing members of society when provided with a safe, nurturing, and intellectually challenging environment. Together we make this happen!
I am so proud to be a member of this amazing learning community. If you are already a member of the CLIC community, thank you for taking this journey with us. If you are just getting to know us, welcome! I hope you will join us and make us ever stronger, more caring, and more diverse. In the words of Cesar Chavez, "Students must have initiative; they should not be mere imitators. They must learn to think and act for themselves – and be free."
