Welcome Letter

Welcome to City Charter Schools!

I am thrilled that you have taken the time to learn more about our schools and all that we have to offer our students.  Our schools draw students from more than 20 different zip codes, and truly reflect the diversity of Los Angeles. At the same time, each of our schools maintains a close-knit community of families through constant communication and community building activities. We offer all students an excellent education that begins with their interests and curiosity, and inspires them to delve into meaningful learning opportunities. Our programs extend beyond the basics, and include arts, athletics, science and technology, and a variety of student-driven clubs and activities.

Since we launched our first school in 2012, we have proven that this approach builds student confidence and resilience while helping them discover their unique learning styles and abilities. Our goal is to develop lifelong learners and curious, critical thinking, compassionate leaders.

As the Executive Director of City Charter Schools, I am honored to lead an organization that is so committed to raising the bar in public education. We believe that schools can and should provide constant social and emotional support to students, while also providing them with a world-class academic program.

Our diverse faculty, staff, and administration love our passionate, kind, and curious students. All three of our campuses, City Language Immersion Charter (TK-5), The City School (6-8) and City High School (9-12) are buzzing with the energy and excitement that is possible when the principals are relentlessly committed to each student, when the faculty love their jobs and can bring creativity, voice, and leadership to their daily work, and when families truly feel welcomed and valued in the community.

I am incredibly proud of the work we are doing and I sincerely look forward to helping you learn more about how City Charter Schools fits with the academic, social, and personal goals you have for your child.  Please visit www.citycharterschools.org to learn more about each of our fantastic schools, and to become part of our growing family!

Sincerely,

Valerie Braimah, Executive Director
